Metaphor: ReFantazio
New Games Of October 2024
October is the season for AAA games releases, and boy do they come in droves. Here’s a selection of what’s on the staff’s radar, and a one sentence pitch.
October 9 Shady Knight — First-person action game where you do combos to max out a style meter and the action looks like Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic and Ghostrunner went into Devil May Cry love shack together
October 11 Metaphor: ReFantazio — What if the Persona team made a fantasy RPG and instead of collecting demons like Pokemon you switch jobs like Final Fantasy (that demo lasts a whole FIVE hours)
October 18 — Unknown 9: Awakening — Action adventure featuring as the protagonist who can fight, sneak and body possess people
October 22 — Streets Of Rogue 2 (Early Access) — Top-down open-world RPG that doubles down on the idea of “Deus Ex but roguelike” to its logical extreme
Call Of Duty Black Ops 6
October 24 — Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge Of The Seven — Remake of the 1993 RPG by the team that remade Trials Of Mana (there’s a demo)
October 25 — Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 — This year’s Call Of Duty game and surprisingly not a follow-up to Call Of Duty Black Ops 5 (because it’s called COD BLOPS Cold War) which is also not followed up by Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 (because it’s called COD BLOPS IIII)
October 31 — Shadows Of The Damned: Hella Remastered — Remaster of the 2011 third-person shooter cult-hit starring Garcia Hotspur and a talking gun
October 31 — Dragon Age: The Veilguard — The latest entry to the RPG series since 10 years ago might actually be a good Bioware game since… 10 years ago (fingers crossed)
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
Game Reviews
Every new issue, we’ll share links to recent reviews from the past week. And maybe some from the past years.
Here’s what we have for this week:
Meck risen up with the dead in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. “Janky, odd games with bold ideas deserve a place in this world”
Danial thinks highly of racing management sim Golden Lap. “Support the developer for making a management game that has the sauce”
Anan has nothing in the pipeline so here’s a review we published two years ago.
That’s it for this issue. Stay tuned to Gamer Matters as we will share what we think of these hot news games. Check the site for at least one new review coming in hot this week…
Oh and help us improve the newsletter by filling this form. Your feedback will help up us grow and improve, together.
